A blog (short for webblog) is an online diary that is usually frequently updated and designed to be read by the public. They tend to be quite personal and give a deeper insight into a company or person. They are very often used to provide a communication mechanism between a company and its customers to let them know about upcoming products, changes to the company or just to give a behind the scenes glimpse of the companies inner workings.
A blog tends to have an easy to use admin system that lets you update it and make changes through a web based interface, in this respect they are similar to a content management system, taking away the complexity of running a website.
